How one little device could help improve your mobile coverage

Anyone on the land knows mobile coverage really matters. It influences almost everything in agribusiness, from operating efficiency to everyday safety, and can help transform a good farm into a great one.

Telstra plays a large part in providing connectivity to Australian farmers. To put this in perspective, almost $3 billion of our total $8 billion mobile network investment in the past five years has been in regional and rural areas.
Nationally, our mobile network footprint covers 2.5 million square kilometres – vastly more than any other mobile network in Australia.
In NSW alone we have more than 2,800 mobile base stations providing over 618,000 square kilometres of coverage and reaching 99.5% of the state’s population.
We have also built more than 600 new mobile base stations nationally under the Federal Government Mobile Black Spot Program – well on our way to the 780 we are currently contracted to deliver.

Boost reception with the Telstra Go Repeater

Telstra is working hard to extend our network coverage even further by offering customers products like the Telstra Go Repeater – a device designed to maximise coverage and improve voice quality and data speeds.
This ‘intelligent’ antenna works by wirelessly replicating or ‘repeating’ a mobile signal to boost reception, especially in regional and remote locations where consistent coverage may be tricky.

Go mobile or go stationary

The Telstra Go Repeater comes in two versions: a stationary version to provide better coverage at a permanent location, such as around farm buildings or at home, and a portable version to boost coverage in vehicles.
The portable version is suitable if you travel between coverage areas or through areas of patchy coverage. The stationary version is designed to resolve issues where an indoor signal may be weak or lacking.
Whichever version you choose, both use Telstra’s 3G, 4G and 4GX technology, and work by receiving mobile signals through an external antenna. The signal is enhanced and re-transmitted to a single indoor or in-vehicle antenna to extend coverage.

Plan or purchase options

You can take up the Telstra Go Repeater on a monthly repayment plan or buy the device outright.
The portable version, $720, includes an external magnetic mount antenna and internal antenna. Telstra does not offer installation for the portable version and it is recommended that customers arrange installation by an auto-electrician if required.
The stationary version, $648, requires an external antenna at an additional cost that must be professionally installed.

What NSW farmers think

“Telstra Go Repeater is a terrific product, where I have experienced significant improvement for data and voice use. It has benefited everyday life.”
– James Jackson President, NSW Farmers

“The Telstra Go Repeater is a game-changer for anyone travelling or living in regional Australia who needs to boost their coverage.”
– Annette Turner, Former president, Country Women’s Association of NSW

Avoid illegal repeaters

The Telstra Go Repeater is designed to work without interfering with the overall mobile network. This is very different to illegal mobile repeater devices that don’t have the internal protection of Telstra-approved devices. Illegal devices can also cause major interference on the network, so it is important to only use Telstra-approved network extension devices like the Telstra Go Repeater.
